Had the most wonderful stay at one of the most beautiful holiday lets in a fantastic location, close by to lots of lovely towns and villages. Very clean accommodation with everything catered for leaving me wanting for nothing.

Richard Wazejewski,

This the most beautiful place to stay. The garden has birds visiting and it's lovely hearing them sing all day and evening. The pool is to die for. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. The near by town of Bubbio is great to visit and there many interesting places to visit. It's heaven coming back after a day or evening out, to this very peaceful place.

Martha Kowa,

We had a wonderful stay at Casa La Pietra. We thoroughly enjoyed the swimming pool, table tennis and fussball, visiting local vineyards, Tenuta Antica, Acqui Terme, the ice cream shop in Cassinasco and Roccaverano has amazing views.

Family M,

Wonderful villa in a lovely area
A wonderful place for a holiday - the grandchildren loved the pool, table tennis, table football, swings and the garden. Lovely outdoor eating area with large table next to the kitchen. Everything was exceptional. Jeska recommended a local chef, Cinzia, who cooked us an excellent meal one evening . David looks after the property and he was really helpful and welcoming and solved any issue that we had.

Chris G,

We came here on a family holiday and fell in love with the place. Having been on several villa holidays where the house is basically a buy-to-let with only the bare minimum on offer, this was a pleasant change. La Casa is clearly a family home where the owners come regularly and have over the years crafted it into a comfortable and well-equipped place to relax.

Everything you could want in terms of cooking equipment is here, including a barbecue, herb garden, delicious home-grown tomatoes you can pick yourself, an abundance of pots, and pans and appliances.

The outside area is so beautiful and well-equipped with a trampoline, swings, table tennis, table football, hammocks and lovely outside seating area, not to mention the pool which is perfect and in clear sight of the main terrace and seating areas so you can watch the children from close by. They also provide some bikes which are free to use, something we have not come across in other rentals. These allowed us to cycle up to the nearby village which is only 1km away to buy daily staples and relax with a coffee in one of the 3 cafes.

The house is nicely furnished and clean, with all towels and pool towels provided.

We had an amazing week, such a lovely place and the surrounding area is an unspoilt gem with very few tourists.

The Property is just as pictured,we spent over a month here with family and friends
We went on daily bike ride around the area with great lunches and wine.
The house is comfortable, cozy great kitchen with everything you need.
David was there to help us with anything and everything

Barbara C,

We had a great time exploring the Piemonte region. We were always glad to get back to the house and enjoy the comforts of the home and the wonderful outside spaces. Just wish the weather had been a little better... The owners were accurate in the description of the property and they are fortunate to have a terrific caretaker, who was most helpful in making recommendations and supplying us with tons of information.

Claudine N,

We have just returned from the most heavenly week in La Casa Pietra with our three grown up boys and their girlfriends . .
The house was so well equipped with everything you could wish for . From really decent kitchen equipment ,the knives were amazing ! And very comfortable beds . All the rooms had portable fans and so we had no problem with the heat ,and we were very lucky with fabulous hot ,sunny days .
The pool was the best we have ever had at a holiday home ,big and deep enough for us all to play in .
David was great at local knowledge and ideas for eating out , though we loved to cook in,meaning we could all imbibe the local wines .
We could have done with an extra two days to cross everything off our 'to do' list .
Thank you for letting us use your lovely home and thank you David ,for all your help.

Becca A,

Lovely comfortable house,in great ,quiet location, but 20 mins walk to charming, friendly village..David was so helpful and a mine of information,on eating, wineries and day trips.
Superb pool. House has everything you could possibly need. Piedmont is simply wonderful, much finer than the vaunted Chiantishire. Fabulous value wonderful wines and great family restaurants within 10 mins drive of house.

Bill J,

Wonderful home that feels like a home that is loved and lived in. And a well- equipped kitchen which is rare for rental properties!

Sandra C,

Casa Pietra was everything we’d hoped and more!
Casa Pietra is every bit as lovely as it looks. David was a generous and informative host, and the house was spectacular. We enjoyed the pool, the ripe cherries, the walks along the river in the evenings, and the local wineries and markets. There was something for everyone, old and young. The kitchen was a dream, the rooms spacious and clean, and the town of Bubbio close enough to walk. We loved every minute and hope to find our way back another summer.

Very enjoyable stay in Piemonte
Charming and comfortable house. Very nice and well maintained outdoor area and pool. Well equipped house with all necessary utilities and equipment. Four nice bikes, two retro bikes and two good road bikes. During our stay, it was unusually hot and air conditioning would have improved sleep quality. Excellent service provided by caretaker David, helping out with local knowledge and generally being available for all sorts of minor and major problems. Will absolutely recommend the house, and we will most likely try to return in the future.

Jorgen H.,

Great spot for a family vacation!
We had a lovely time at the house together with family and relatives. The house and the pool was great!

Karin S.,

Excellent.
We enjoyed a wonderful family vacation. The pool is great; the villa is well stocked and the bedrooms are very comfortable.

A Fantastic Fall Trip
Our stay at La Casa Pietra was fantastic. We shared this villa with another family and it was big enough to accommodate all of us without feeling cramped. The outdoor space was lovely and it was just warm enough to use the pool on one of the days. Our children had a great time exploring the area. We visited several vineyards and David was also kind enough to find a chef for us for a few nights. I would highly recommend the chef. Her food was delicious and it was great not having to prep, cook and clean up for a large party. We will come back again. I would highly recommend this villa.

Absolutely Wonderful, a Perfect Holiday
This really is an idyllic find. The house is gorgeous, the owners were absolutely lovely and the surrounds are stunning. There was plenty to do at the house with the pool and trampoline for the kids, bikes available for when we were feeling active The house is in a beautiful valley not far away from some quaint little towns and a superstore is in driving distance in the larger historic spa town of Acqui Termi, so you can stock up and just relax or try out some of the restaurants. The property really was kept so wonderfully, everything was as advertised - can't recommend highly enough! Would happily go again next year.

Maddie J,

Wonderful Villa in a Beautiful Unspoilt Location
This gorgeous villa totally surpassed expectations and provided an ideal base for our Italian adventure. Superbly equipped with everything you could possibly want or need our favourite hangouts were the leafy veranda, the outside sofas and the fabulous pool. We stayed as a group of friends (with kids) and there was plenty to entertain both adults and children alike - on and off the property. The villa is extremely spacious, immaculately clean and beautifully designed and the owners were incredibly warm and helpful in the run up to our stay. All in all, highly recommended!

Olivia D,

What you see is what you get..
La Casa Pietra is one of those rare rental properties which really does live up to its listing. The photographs may look impossibly idyllic but the pool really IS that fabulous, the house and garden really ARE as comfortable and relaxing as they look. We stayed with small children, teenagers and twenty something's and this property ticked everyone's boxes. Whether you want to cook, eat, swim, read, cycle, hike or do absolutely nothing, every need is catered for. Only those with a desperate need for nightclubs and designer shopping on tap would be disappointed - this isn't Ibiza or St Tropez! If, however, you are looking for 'proper' Italy, in a beautifully appointed and well-maintained property with plenty of private spaces, even the largest and most diverse group will find everything that they need. We have enjoyed several wonderful holidays at La Casa Pietra and we will be back. A real find.

Nicola M,

A perfect place for all the family
The boys loved the place for its fabulous countryside for cycling, the river and the pool. I loved it for the comfort of the villa both inside and out, the sociable evening around the big table on the terrace, the blue skies, the views, the walks, the village, Acqui Terme - and the pool!

I would definitely recommend it.

Myfanwy H,

A Fabulous Week in Piemonte
Casa Pietra is a beautiful old farmhouse in the middle of rural Piedmonte. Peaceful and staggeringly beautiful it makes a comfortable base to explore the local area. I cycled every day using the bikes that the owners have at the property. The road biking here is world class , a range of 900m elevation climbs literally on the doorstep and no traffic at all. And some strava segments an old boy like me still has a chance of getting some KOMs on! The whole family loved their time here , most days the kids walked up to Bubbio for ice creams on their own , peaceful, safe and beautiful , the perfect place to unwind. We've already booked up next year!

Tony H,

Fabulous house, Bubbio is a real treat
We had an amazing week at Casa Pietra. The house and gardens were very relaxing and comfortable. With plenty of distractions for the kids - swimming pool, trampoline and swings. We loved Bubbio, a short walk from the house, lots of real Italian character, authentic bars and restaurants in the square. Would definitely be booking it again

sarah h,

Cycling Bliss
The house is lovely set back from a quite country road in a rural setting. It is furnished with taste and has all mod cons you could want from a holiday rental.
But for us the best bit of all and why we will be returning next year is the unbelievable cycling we enjoyed in the surround countryside. Quite road, great climbs fabulous descents a cycling paradise. Please don't tell too many people!

Matthew H,

Perfection!
For anyone who has suffered the crashing disappointment of a villa holiday which failed to live up to the website description, La Casa Pietra will restore your faith in the perfect Italian idyll. It really is as fabulous as the photos suggest! No drawing straws for the best bedroom - they are all wonderful. It is like staying in the home of a very tasteful friend who has thought of every last detail which makes a holiday perfect - luxurious but unfussy decor, a properly equipped kitchen (clearly the owner is a cook who knows his gadgets!) and an atmosphere which positively encourages you to do whatever you want......We have stayed here with toddlers, teenagers, cyclists, foodies, competitive swimmers and those who want to do nothing more than read books and drink wine - and every single one of them said "When are we coming back? This place is perfect!" Enough said!

Nicola Morgan,

Very Peaceful

We stayed for just a few days in August. The villa is well-laid out, with a particularly conducive sheltered outdoor dining space which I am sure was specifically designed for long lazy lunches! Set amongst vineyards with views over fields and the town of Bubbio a short distance away, it is a very peaceful, gentle place to escape to. I would also recommend a visit to the ancient spa town of Aqui Thermi, 20 mins by car.

Adrian P,

Casa Pietra is so peaceful

A large group of us stayed for a week in this lovely house. It was very well equipped in all aspects and the Wifi made life easy for those with teenage children. Lots of attention to detail and plenty for children of all ages to do. Very comfortable in a beautiful location within walking distance of lovely village with superb local restaurant. The pool was warm and very clean. Highly recommended.

Brad F,

What a fabulous place

This a beautiful house, traditional in every way but with all the modern amenities you could possibly want and set in an unspoiled but lovely part of the country. This is the second time we've stayed here and each time we've been one of three families all mucking in, different families each time too. With all the entertainment on offer for them -Wifi, games, DVDs, huge TV, swings, trampoline, the river and of course the pool - we hardly saw the kids which allowed us all the more time to take advantage of the new patio area and the fantastic kitchen.
I did start out with the best intentions and rented a bike from next door on Day 1 and a lovely walk on Day 2 but the peace and quiet took over from there and the rest of the week was largely spent with a book and a beer by the pool.
The village of Bubbio is very pretty with a great bakers and a really good family restaurant as well as a couple of cafe/bars and it suited us that this is not a tourist area at all and what we got was genuinely Italian even if that meant the odd awkward conversation and lots of pointing.
Further afield there is an excellent supermarket on the edge of Acqui Terme which is 15 minutes away and well worth a visit as is the vineyard and butterfly farm five minutes in the other direction.
I would love to come back here again and I'm looking at the Easter holidays when the weather will be cooler and I can really go to town with some seriously cycling.

Alan M,

Peaceful retreat in beautiful countryside

The house actually exceeded our expectations. It was much larger than we had expected it to be and was well furnished and thoughtfully kitted out.

We came as part of a big family crowd and it was ideal for us all. There are a lot of shady communal areas which suited everybody, but there are also thoughtfully laid out smaller seating areas dotted around the building where you could sit quietly and avoid the pool mayhem if the children were getting too much!

There's not a huge amount to do although threre are lots of pretty villages nearby and a mountain biking place within walking distance. It was very hot whilst we were there in August, so we didn't actually hire any bikes, but I imagine it would be fun to do when the weather cools down in the autum or perhaps in early summer.

I would definitely think about going back again another year.

Mrs B M,

La Casa Pietra

We had a wonderful week at la Casa Pietra, the house has been modernised to a very high standard. The bedrooms were spacious and beds comfortable. Lovely details like mosquito nets on the french doors so you could leave them ome at night to let the breeze in. Very well equipped kitchen and comfortable sitting room.

Outside the gardens and pool were great, lots of shady areas to escape and read a book. Excellent pool, which was used constantly by our children, also swings and a trampoline made this perfect for kids. The outside dinning area worked brilliantly, nicely shaded during the day and lovely cool at night for long dinners with friends.

The area is very interesting, away from the tourist crowds. There is lots to do, with excellent local restaurants, vineyards and walks in the surrounding area. We would definitely visit again.

Sarah,

Perfect in every way

Im not in the habit of writing reviews but i have to say we were blown away with our summer hols in Bubbio. Genoa airport small and easy, so out the door in 15 mins. Hire car company friendly, 2 mins out of airport and your on the main rd. Drive up was easy the wonderful pool drew me in before bags were out of car.
Its very quiet and peaceful just on the outskirts of the village, with easy access to all we needed. The house feels more like someones holiday home rather than a rental. Super clean with a layout thats clearly had a lot of thought go into it. Attention to detail is an understatement, the kitchen is fully equipped and no one has to wait for a toilet or bathroom. Having all your creature comforts catered for made this a most relaxed and easy week. We managed to drag ourselves out for a couple of trips, check out lunch in the village restaurant, they really made a fuss of us. The local vineyard also worth a visit as they also looked after us very well indeed. There's a massive gas BBQ and we got some incedibly good quality steaks locally so if you like your food and wine the area is well stocked. Mosquitos were strangely scarce. The children had loads to do with good size pool, trampoline, and of course the large tv. As you can see i liked it. We're going back next year.

Hamish Norwell,

Visit to La Casa Pietra

I spent 10 days at La Casa Pietra and found it a perfect place for a holiday. It was immaculately clean with plenty of places to sit both in the sun and the shade.
It is in beautiful countryside but a car is a must.
There is a residential English caretaker who is unobtrusive but very knowledgeable about the local scene. The beds were comfortable and would be ideal for families

Ann C,

Wonderful place to stay

We stayed at La Casa Pietra for a week in August 2012 and it is a beautiful place to stay.

The villa has everything that you could possible want and more! The interior is modern, spotlessly clean, well maintained and very comfortable. There is a lot of outside space with a fantastic pool, a lovely seating area, outside dinning space and large lawns. The surrounding area is simply beautiful, it's very peaceful and very private. It's a traditional, rural Italian location which made it ideal for a relaxing getaway.

We hired a car and took advantage of the surrounding region visiting many towns and villages in Piedmont such as Alba and Aqui de Terme which were both worth the visit. The region is stunning, very Italian and not over-crowded.

I would thoroughly recommend this villa to anyone considering taking a holiday there, you will not be disappointed.

Dream Italian Retreat

My husband and I joined a group of friends for the perfect Italian escape in this amazing villa. Located in a spectacular valley and surrounded by beautiful countryside, Casa Pietra still manages to be easily accessible to most of the region's most charming towns and villages. The villa itself is simply gorgeous and equipped with everything you could possibly need - far better than our own house in fact! I particularly appreciated having enough bathrooms for privacy - always tricky to find for a big group. The huge swimming pool was a hit with both adults and kids alike and nothing beat opening a cold bottle of delicious wine whilst sitting on the shady veranda. We're planning our next trip already...

Sally S,

Beautiful well-designed house

The house was beautiful and extremely well set up for a few families to stay. We thought the design of the bathrooms and living spaces was exceptional. The view across to Bubbio was also superb, and the way the outdoor living spaces were set up so that you could enjoy the view was also fantastic. It is also great to have everything you need there – dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent and the like. We did not have that everywhere we stayed and it was much appreciated.

Anon,

Perfect holiday

My family have just returned from spending a blissful week in La Casa Pietra where we were joined a group of friends for the Easter Break. 12 of us in all, 6 adults and 6 kids of various ages between 2 and 15.

The place is so beautiful, both the Villa and the surrounding country side and Easter is it’s a great time of year to be there with all the flowers out.

This is the second time we have been to the house and I must say we love the revamp – Congratulations to the new owners !! It’s so well thought out, still with plenty of space to get away (from the kids noise) but also lots of lovely areas to be together. We either ate in the large kitchen or outside as the weather was glorious for the most part.

On cloudy days the older boys got into gaming with the generous range of entertainment you had laid on – Inspired.

Otherwise when they weren’t all on the massive trampoline and they were making dens made in the woods by the stream.

My husband is in training for a charity cycle ride next month and loved discovering the hills nearby on his own bike, I was very envious and next time will rent one of the off road bikes from the guy next door, I gather he can lead sessions for the kids too.

And in the evenings after dinner we could all sit comfortably and watch a movie on your huge TV screen.

The new pool looks as if it’s going to be a fantastic addition to the house and we can’t wait to be back to try it out – hope there is a slot left in your booking schedule this summer to see for our selves. We can’t imagine a more perfect holiday.

We have all returned completely refreshed, can’t tell you how much we all love the place, so thank you again – we will be back !

Penny,

Peace and space

We spent a fabulous week at La Casa Pietra at Easter 2011. The first thing you notice when you arrive is the quiet. Then the long views and vast expanses of sky. The garden - the trampoline won the children's hearts immediately and the adults were taken with the seating areas offering plenty of outdoor eating, drinking and lounging opportunities. Then the house - big enough for a large group to be together but still find quiet corners for individual time.

The house is excellently equipped so we didn't get that holiday feeling of "if only I'd remembered to bring a...". Kitchen and bathrooms are all well fitted. Everywhere is clean and well presented. We felt very much at home and could easily have stayed on forever.

While we were there work was progressing fast on the swimming pool - we will definitely be back to try it out soon!
